Default Brake seals?

I'm stripping down and cleaning the brakes on my new (to me!) SV 650. All the calipers are very manky with white corrosion around the seal grooves, especially the outer dust seals.

Having extracted the pistons and seals, the seals don't look too bad with no splits or obvious kinks. Is it worth replacing them anyway, or if they look OK should I just stick them back in?

Any advice appreciated!

Andy

For cost of seals versus purpose of seals, I view it as a false economy. You are doing the hard work cleaning up the calipers so treat them to new seals.

Don't forget to use the red rubber grease.

And scrape the cr*p out from behind them or it'll be a pointless exercise

Where do you get red rubber grease?
I've seen some on ebay but have the feeling they might have hiked the price up.

I've just done the cleaning of my calipers this week. It's a hell of a job, but worth it! Now my brakes work properly without the brake pads scrubbing against the rotors

What do the seals cost in the UK? Where they are almost 20 euro...
