Default stop forks from pitting (D.I.Y)

Im determined not to let my forks get pitted, esp as im going to be using her as far into winter as i can. so ive covered them in the oxford clear sheet paint work saver stuff.
Got the idea from the cat c sv i went to have a look at.
Anyone else got any hints/tips on how to save the front forks?

I've had mine re-painted, with thicker coats of paint and laquer. I was gonna invest in some clear plastic stick on thingymajigs too.

My forks were polished reasonably well by BILLY but even so, I would have done them if they weren't. Much easier to get rid of the effects of salt by using a polishing mop on a drill compared to having to repaint the fork legs. Only takes 5 minutes with a polishing kit to get them sparkling.

Alternatively, on my old hornet, I had a sheet of carbon fibre looking material covering the front of them.

I have 2 sets of forks, I'm painting one set and then swapping them over. I can then paint the other set. I don't like polished stuff on my bikes much, so when one of the sets need the seals done I'll strip and powdercoat the fork lowers.

As the instigator said polish them but spray them with silicone spay after you wash the bike and the pitting and corrosion will be kept at bay

How big a job is it to remove the forks to polish&lacquer the lower parts?

I have my eye on a bike at the moment which will need this done, just not too sure how much work it involves.

Like everything else, if you have the tools for the job it's nothing major.
