Default Garanteed Renewal Quote Beating?

I purchased the policy for my potential new bike yesterday and then decided to try my previous company again as there website advertised the guaranteed quote beating...

but they still didn't manage too... how can they advertise guaranteed if they cant actually do it?

is that not a miss description act blah thingy whatsit.. ??

not that I'm bothered after all I have the cheaper policy.

Yes, this frustrates me too.

I've had an advert that has a tick box list, "aged over x, more than y years riding, more than z years NCB? If so, we guarantee to beat your best quote"

I met all the criteria, so I was more than a bit miffed to ring up and be given a quote (which the phone-chimp had the audacity to call "what looks like a very good deal") of 250% of the best quote I'd had so far. I asked why they couldn't beat my quote and what did the 'guarantee' mean- was I entitled to cash or a free policy perhaps? Apparently not- it seemingly just means "our word". Looks to me like if they lie in their advertising, they'll be dishonest elsewhere and likely try to weasel out of paying, so I'd rather not be insured with them anyway.

If it's for a new bike then it's not a "renewal" is it...?

I THINK they do this by saying if you renew with us, and get a cheaper offer, we won't charge you to cancel your policy.

It's mute anyway as we all know insurance companies are, well, something very rude.

Remember when I broke my first car. Written off, got less money than the insurance I'd paid.

Try complaining to the Adverising Standards Authority.

Then pick up the phone to Bike Team. I'm presently with Motorcycle Direct, cost £370. Bike Team's quote (admitted I have an extra year's NCB) is £297.
