Default 02/02/07...

I know I'm not often in this part of the org, but please don't shout :P

I've just booked a service with Spanner Man on the 3rd, but I figured I'd make a trip out of it

So, long story short, I'll be in London on the 2nd, probably going to the MCN show too, and then hopefully meet you all (everyone that's there) at the Soho meet

So, anything I should be aware of (other than bike travel in London could have a negative effect on my health, and that I need eye's where the sun doesn't tan)?

I'll possibly be meeting up with SoulKiss to take a gander at his CG.

Will be good to finally put names to faces, and I'll probably be in need of a guide to get into London in the right place, so please, hands in the air, form an orderly queue & no pushing :P

Cool!

I'll guide you in mate if you want since I'll probably be there. Get in touch closer to the time and we can arrange something.

Cheers,

Paul

Cheers for the offer mate.

So far, the plan is to arrive at Lee Valley YHA (just off the A10) around lunch time. Drop gear, have a bite to eat, and take the bike down the A10/A13 to Victoria Docks & ExCel for the MCN show.

Finding my way though central London whilst avoiding ijits in cages could prove fun, so it'd be great to be guided in. Thanks for the offer (even if you can't make it mid day - I'll manage).

After that, possibly meet up with a couple of mates from around the Oxford area (have to confirm this still, but probably trains to meet up for a drink & quick catch up). Then off to Soho, probably after getting something to eat.

After Soho, head back out on the A10 to Lee Valley, crash there & set of pretty early to see Spanner Man for my (by then late) 11k service. Then head home again.

I'll drop you a PM with mobile number etc, and I'll be in touch next week with a more definite itinerary Thanks again for the offer

And I'll see you @ Frith when you get there

CG can wait - I doubt the electrics can be fixed in minutes and you dont have time, so no bother there.

Will get it fixed somehow, just need to get the multi-meter out

If I can find the bits that I have in mind, shouldn't take long to diagnose.

I'll dig out my Haynes over the next few days & have a think. Even if I don't take a look at her, I should be able to point you in the right direction

What's the deal with spannerman to make it worth going all the way to the Smoke for a service, Baph?

Wasn't just spanner man. I've been meaning to get down to London for a while now. Partly just so I can remind myself exactly how lucky we are out in the middle of no-where

But basically, including all parts, labour & VAT, 11k service comes in somewhere around the £260 mark IIRC (haven't got the figures to hand). Also, it's the first time the bike will be serviced in front of me, which I like the idea of. He also thinks that I'm going to be working on the bike with him, obviously he doesn't know how much of a mechanical numpty I am I know where the switch is on the kettle at least

Just convenient really that I have the time spare, and he's sort of en-route to/from London. Besides, everyone else that's used him has given good reports back, and you know what it's like finding a good bike mechanic around here Mike (Actually, I know a damn good mechanic in Colwyn Bay, very very very good, cheap, and doesn't care when he gets paid, he rides an R1, but refuses to work on bikes other than his own!)

Also... could anyone fill me in on the Congestion charging system & how it'll apply to my zip in & out of London? Please

Congestion charge doesn't apply to bikes
Look forward to seeing you.

Should be popping along myself, well it'd be rude not to Down for the weekend to see a mate and go to the show, and I've cunningly left friday free- I hope!
