Default Petition about new travel tax

this topic may have already been posted but....

I received this email, I'm not sure how legit this is, I'm sure someone will enlighten me.

Subject: Petition about new travel car tax
Democracy in action?
The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times.
They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedom and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (link below) and pass this on to as many people as possible.

Seen something about that on top gear last year, as they are testing the system I doubt the numbers will be accurate. They better bloody not be anyway... but the £200 was the cost they mentioned for the system.

Ive seen tonnes of petitions on this site, I think anyone can post one, and it doesn't mean the info in the petition is accurate, or planned course of action..

I mean I've seen quite a few from MCN... nuf said?

There's another thread on this as I signed it and have already had a nervous breakdown about it.

I think the petitions website is legit; there was a bit on it in The Times. I believe anyone can submit a petition, but that they check it over before hosting it (although you still get some silly, but inoffensive ones).

I highly doubt this will ever come into effect in the manner that they are talking about. They are basically going against our basic human rights to be tracked everywhere we go. If this does come into play I will not fork out money for equipment so that the government can send me a further bill. If that makes me a criminal then the prisons will be full of like minded people. It's just not a possible or feasible solution, it's not even a solution to congestion as the public transport sector is still woefully inadequate for current levels of travelers, let alone hiking the usage by 50-60%. It will never happen so I wouldn't worry.

At least I hope.........

The more times we get worked up over daft scaremongering, the less likely we are to notice if the real thing comes along tbh.
