Default help! old ipod, new laptop

OK, so I've loaded up itunes on the new craptop.

All seems to be functioning, but how do I now transfer the tunes from my nano into my itunes library? Looked through all the menus but it's not obvious.

Please don't tell me I've got to reload all my CDs!

I paid about £10 to download some software called PodPlus - which allows me to synch my Outlook Contacts, Diary, to-do list etc from my laptop onto my iPod.

Another feature (which I've not had to use yet) is that you can upload music from your iPod to your PC.

However, someone may have a more erm, cost-effective suggestion...?

As far as i know, you cant. Ipods are one way traffic. Also Digital rights Management may stop you.

Unless Cazzas software will allow you to do what is required, its a cse of loading up the CD's. Hence why you should always back up your collection!!

Not good

It does sir, honest:

Here are the features you’ll get with the purchase of iGadget:

Transfer songs from your iPod to your PC and/or into iTunes while preserving play counts, user ratings and last played dates

Transfer playlists from your iPod to iTunes

Put driving directions between any two locations in the United States and Canada onto your iPod

Transfer all you Outlook* data to your iPod (email, appointments, contacts, tasks and notes)

Store weather forecasts on your iPod

Download Podcasts from the internet to your iPod

Pull RSS news feeds from the internet and store them on your iPod for reading at your lesiure

Put your daily horoscope readings on your iPod

Backup any set of files and/or folders from your PC onto your iPod for safe keeping

Create a library of text files on your iPod for reading on-the-go - these could be e-books, recipes, bible verses , anything

Create listings in various formats (HTML, CSV, plain text) of the songs on your iPod - this could then be used to post on a website or to print out a listing of all your songs

Can't belive apple don't have a free solution - people must get new PCs/laptops all the time whilst keeping their ipods. Otherwise what's the point of registering your ipod and itunes?

will keep fingers crossed and only load up new stuff for now....

Sharepod does the same (Music from iPod to PC) for free.

Dead easy to use too.

Apple at their finest, that. I wouldn't buy a player that can't be accessed as a data drive, but they actually went out of their way to remove the option. Anyone who wants to use it to get round data security still can, it only inconveniences people like yourself.

Have you still got both laptops ? if so tis easy, if both your laptop's have a network port on them. Get a cross over cable from PC world and connect them together, share the folder your music is in on the old laptop and then map a network drive to the share on the other laptop then you can just drag and drop the files across from one laptop to the other.
