Default Nice day out

The weather was gorgeous so off I went - from Plymouth to Bideford on the 386 - great road once you're past Tavistock. I could've taken loads of pics of the route but that would've made for a boring ride...so here's the bike at Bideford...

After Bideford I took the A39 westward and visited Clovelly, because I've never been there...so here's some pics...

The prices - very friendly staff - area set aside for bike parking.

View of the coast

The main street down into the village...

Outside nearly every house, there're these sled devices...for speed and ease the locals (because there are some) use the sleds to get their stuff/supplies etc down to the house - they slide quite well over the cobbles...never thought about it before really.

The harbour - pub 'The Red Lion' is the building on the left..

Looking back to the village shoreline from the harbour...

I took some more but won't bore you to death. Suffice to say it's one of those places that you need to visit once in your life...getting back up the hill in full bike gear on a hot spring day is not recommended.

Anyway, On leaving Clovelly I swung right back onto the 39 and headed for Bude. Took a B road towards Holsworthy & Launceston - lots of nice twisty bits - traffic was still light which was great...in the main, most of the cars I came up behind moved over to let me pass...

Then back onto more familiar ground around saltash, the twisties, Seaton & Downderry etc...very nice day indeed. Saw LOTS of bikes...

I arrived at the in laws for 'Easter Tea' around half three-ish...kids were chuffed, missus was surprised, because I'd said earlier that I wasn't going to bother. Anyway, the funny one liner of the afternoon went something like this...

Person one - On a map, when you look at Borneo, its in two colours, and one bit says Malaysia - why's that?

Most other people present nodded in a 'Wayne's world' stylee like yeah, course I know the answer but I'm not going to tell you...

The punch line delivered by the resident funny man (you'll love this) - "The really funny thing is that when you get there, it's not any of those colours at all".

PMSL - I even choked on my popcorn...well anyway...hope you all had a fab easter break thingy whatever.

I know - paying to get in to a village - it's a bit 18th century in a way (toll roads and the like)...still, it's all in a good cause I suppose....although you can bypass the 'toll shed' , not sure how dodgy that is though if you've parked your vehicle in their carpark...you'd have to park a good half mile or so up the road to be in the clear.
