Free legal protection - Any good?

As probably like most of us, i always take out legal protection with my insurance and to date in the itmes i have used it, its worked perfectly. However recently, i have applied for a quote from Ebike and another company (The name escapes me) and they both offer free legal protection even if you dont take thier policy. IS it any good? Is it better/worse than the one you pay for with your insurance?

I dont mind, but £20 is £20.

Any personal experience appreciated.

I have used the e-Bike free legal protection and there was never any suggestion that there was any limitation to costs etc in my personal injuries claim.

What I did learn though, is if you wish to use it. Consult the solicitor of your choice and let him arrange for authorisation for his fees against your legal protection policy.

Although I had no issues with the appointed solicitors, they were obviously a large practice as over the 3 years of my ongoing claim I have had 4 different solicitors acting for me.

Again the free recovery worked very well. Within 5 minutes of my call. A local recovery guy had called me to check if a trailer was sufficient or would a lift be required and confirm my exact position. 15 minutes later I was sat in a van on my way home with the bike.
