Hi all,
I’m half way through cleaning my K&N air filter & getting a little confused by the instructions ![]() ![]() So my questions: a) Which side of the air filter is the “clean” side & which is the “dirty” side of the SV air filter? b) Which side should I spray the oil? Cheers, Gaz |

Better wait for confirmation off someone else (I haven't had to clean mine yet) but the dirty side would face up towards the top of the air box. I would've thought the oil goes on this side too.

Dirty side is on the top where the outside air comes in. Clean side is the bottom, throttle body side.
![]() Oh and oil on dirty side to attract the dirt. Not too much though or it will clog up too quickly. |

cheers guys,
So just to confirm; the "inside" as it were, of the air filter is the dirty side? this is what i thought to be be the case, but on the diagrams it seems t'other way round. |

Pointys have a flat filter. The dirty side is the side facing away from the engine. Hope that helps John |

For curvy:
Spray cleaner onto it on the outside. Let it do it's work or summat like that. Hose off from the inside(shower head/tap/etc) Leave to dry Re-oil Done. Ben |

Thanks all. So it was the way round I thought it was, but you guys have confirmed.
It’s a curvey that I’ve got, I got as for as rinsing it out from the inside & letting it dry, but it doesn’t specify which side to spray the oil, I would’ve thought the dirty side but it’d be quite difficult to get the oil aerosol in there & give it a thorough coating? Or doesn’t it matter as that they haven’t said which side? Cheers Gaz |
