Default sv trade

I plan on buying a curvy sv tommorow and was wondering what to look for when buying it?
Its not perfect but its cheap!500e plus a trade in of a hornet 250.

Heres a pic. http://www.bikebuyersguide.ie/Bike_d...650&frmFilter=

the can looks dodgey to me.
The upper fairing is resprayed but what else important should i watch for?

looks like that can's been cut down?

I am unsure if its an orig one (someone will b along in a min to tell u )
if it isnt then u need to ask if they have the orig one for MOT ...

I see now its euros!.. 3,500 shocked me !!>.. still - at £ 2300 sterling its a big price.!?? isnt it..

my advice would be-- DONT JUMP IN . hang around waitand look at loads..

someone with lots of knowledge wll b along later tonight for u I hope with stuff like..

tyres
headstock
punmp the front brakes and look at seals or if the forks stick.
chain condition?

like I say- someone will tell u properly and more succintly..in maybe a nice check list u can print off and take with you- then they will know u have done your homework.!

anyone posting below would it b helpful to list any main probs that may arise and £ cost (bea rin mind buyer is in ireland ! ont frighten with £ sterling quotes) to put right- so if there is something wrong that can be corrected its some bargaining power for getting some guinnes tokens knocked off.

the can doesnt worry me.
my hornet is in tatty condition so i am happy to exchange for the sv.
the bike market in ireland is very different to uk.

we have no mot so bikes are often neglected.
our insurance is 4 times more expensive than yours and all riders are restricted for provisional licence
than for two years on a full licence.

my hornet is starter friendly because its under restriction power.
generally bigger bikes are cheaper because you cant sell them... my hornet was 4500e jap import!!!

I wouldn't buy that here for anything near that price, the SV has obviously been chucked down the road and it looks (to me) like they've just tried to get it back together before palming it off on any dealer that'll take it. Seriously, there has to be something better than that around for the price

Yea. resprayed fairing suggestes to me its been down the road; so there could be other things wrong with it too.

I got my curvy for £1500 in better condition! Look about a bit more

Default to buy ?

Its all been said - but just to put my penneth in- I wouldn't touch it for that sort of money. I appreciate that the bike trade is a little different in your neck of the woods but as others have said Don't rush in as there are plenty of good uns out there but also plenty of rubbish. Look at loads. You don't want to be in a position where you have bought something "ify" when the next day you'll find a minter. Once you've spent your cash - that's it - its gone - Sorry to sound like your dad ! :P
