Default Someone remind me...

When you get a NIP through the post for speeding, there's a certain time limit on how long the police have to give you the NIP, right? IIRC, it's 14 days, but I could be wrong.

OK, the situation:
The Mrs & I were going through Llanwrst, on the 13th Jan. The town was quiet, very quiet for a town of it's popularity. I was following her, she was driving the car, I was on the bike.

She's got a letter today saying that she was being a tad naughty, and doing 36mph in a 30 zone. The letter is dated 28th Feb.

My personal thoughts:
Paying it would be a pain in the rear, yes. However, she was speeding, in a 30 zone. I'm hoping that this camera was front facing, and that I haven't got the same letter coming to me. I honestly can't gurantee what speed I was doing. Chances are I was matching her speed, so I'd be over the limit too, but she hasn't said anything about a letter for me.

If she (or indeed both of us) have to pay it, fine, it gets paid. I'm not going to look into the whole subject too much, because she was (and possibly I was too) over the legal speed limit. Do the crime, pay the fine.

However, what's the chances of fighting the NIP based on time taken to get the nip to us? Surely 6 weeks is taking the P a little bit, considering there are no static camera's, and I don't remember seeing a van there (I've seen vans on other occasions there, but I don't remember one that day).

Cheers for the thoughts, and feel free to slate me for the whole "trying to avoid it" issue

Nevermind folks, nothing to see here... move along.

Just talked to her after reading pepipoo. It's definately a NIP, not a FPN.

NIPs have 14days by law to be given, FPNs have 6 months.

Carry on as you were

Scoobs, ty fella. I found that link about 3 seconds after posting the first post

FWIW the scamera van hides at the south end of A470 there, on outskirts of town, behind a high hedge, on the service road to a small estate. It scams facing into town. The road is wide, straight and well surfaced and requires discipline to stay in the limit.

If leaving LLanrwst heading towards Betws-y-Coed (south), the scamera is forward facing.

It's there at least once a day on weekends and often on weekdays. I know, it's opposite my in-laws house. They are often there with a hair dryer too, but they are easier to spot.

Well my recent NIP has turned into 3 points and £60. Scamera gits. Well over the time for me but as they wrote to my employers first for driver details they are allowed longer that the 2 weeks.

Yea, I see that one a lot. I'll have to pop in to the in-laws house some time for a cuppa then Mike

We came from Betws-y-coed through Llanrwst heading towards Llandudno.

I know not too long ago, I saw it there, and hit the brakes to cover myself, I'm not sure if this was the day or not.

If it wasn't there, I reckon it was on the mini industrial estate just north of the town centre, again, facing the town (front facing on our way out).

It's Welsh. To them, W is a vowel - 'Double U'.

Ahh did not notice Baph spelt it wrong LLANRWST.

Does that help?

LL is a welsh sound and not easily translated an L with a lisp?

W is a vowel in Welsh and is an 'oo' sound.

most English speakers manage 'Lanroost', phonetically

You should try where I live, Cyffylliog.
