Default Idle tickover dipping

Any advice please people.

I have a 2000 SV650s which rides great but when Im stationary n the bikes idling the revs occasionally drop momentarily from about 1400 to 1000?

It can happen. Can be dodgy fuel, or carb icing as the 1st 2 to scrub off ya list. However, if it gets worse, then chocke plungers stuck, vaccum leaks etc.

My little GS500 has this problem as well. I get a little poping noise just as it happens (like beans in the microwave) on a fast idle around 1700 RPM.
I assumed it was a touch of detonation so i ran so fuel cleaner through it with no joy. The recommendations came flooding in so, as i have two GS500's i started swapping over the part on a 'process of elimination' basis. I've swapped the coils, carbs, ECU and spark plugs. I've adjusted the valve clearences, inspected all the gaskets on the top end (breather cover on was suspect so i replaced it) and still haven't cured it. I'm also putting it down to a quirk but it would be nice if there was an answer to why it does it.

popping would suggest running lean. ALthough i found everytime any engine i've been running sucks on idle it tends to be the carbs that need balancing. Its such an easy job with a carbtune. Twins are particularly vulnerable to this.

I balanced the original carbs with no joy, i didn't bother with my other bikes carbs as i just wanted to bolt them on and then return them to my orginal bike. I did note that the original carbs main jet was partly broken off when stripping it to clean them. I got a new set from a breakers and still the same problem, although i haven't balanced them yet. I fitted them, started it,
and waited for the same old popping and then switched it off. I thought i'll just use my other bikes until i can be bothered to fiddle around with it again

With Viney. Vacuum leak or choke plunger. Stickying choke plungers is prolly more likely.
There are one or two threads on The Suzuki sh*te chokeythingy on the SV
