Default Is titanium polishable?

Can titanium exhausts be polished to a shine? I'm asking because there are currently two cans listed on ebay as coloured titanium but where it is silver in colour they shine just like stainless. I have a titanium can and I'm sure blue flame told me it couldn't be polished but to clean it with a volatile substance like petrol. I actually had a bit of a ding dong with a fella on ebay over it. If I am right then these people afre mis-selling stuff.

Will someone put me straight?

Most Titanium come in a brushed finish most of the time as although it can be polished it stains very easily and wouls soon look pretty crap on a bike.

Cheers Mark.

i have a ti system and i was going to clean the downpipes, etc (not end can) with autosol or similar, since they have got quite crappy...is this not possible/advisable? they aren't a brushed finish on the downpipes (maybe this is why it's gone crappy?!)

A can of worms really, you can but you'll be forever doing it to keep them stain free, I'd be more incline to use alloy wheel cleaner and soap and water and settle for the matt look myself but, if you like that polishing stuff, fill your boots.

Cheers Mark.

We have a full titanium system, and while you can polish it up to some extent, I've never been able to get it to shine like stainless. However, we had a titanium stubby which had a brushed finish and that has polished up to at least match the rest of the system. Still not the eye-aching shine you can get from stainless though!

The pillion pegs, etc cost 20 quid to have powder-coated, cheap as chips

The graze is from 60,000 odd miles of my legs rubbing on the paintwork! Bloody pillions, eh?

We will get round to replacing the seat unit one day, but hey, it's battle scars honourably won

Talking of scars.....................how's your knee?(Derail)

In short, had OP Thursday, of the two ligaments in there, one is completely buggered and the other will need a 4 hour OP to reconstruct with donor tissue and is still a "maybe" so not good, but Hey, time to get myself a decent leg brace and get on with life again.

Cheers Mark.

If you're worried about the akrapovic system in you avatar, it's got stainless headers, so Autosol away!
