Default Dangers of horseriding

BBC News 24 has been running a story today about the risks in horse riding, apparently horse riding "is 20 times more dangerous than motorcycling".

Seems a little exaggerated to me, though I once saw a horse shy and the riders helmet fell off on the way down, landed on her head on tarmac from ten feet up, we had to stop her swallowing her tongue

Personally I think the hunting fraternity deserve all they get , but perhaps mummy & daddy should think again about buying their teenage daughter a pony & go for a motorbike instead

Doesn't surprise me - I mean, your bike just sits there and waits for you to screw up...

... horses don't. They really do have minds of their own.

I don't. That said, I'm not arrogant enough to think that I'm in any position to dictate how you live your life. Do what you want I say, shouldn't be mine or any one elses business.

Considering this view is in a similar vein as the kind of spiteful petty minded crap (getting grief for doing something fun because some other busy body doesn't approve of it) we as motorcyclists have to deal with being a minority group, how about you try and help us lead the way in being tolerant eh?

But if your bike leaks would it fertilise the roses

Wife and daughter both ride horses, both have come off but with the proper protective gear have not been more than bruised, where does that sound familar.

that said, horse riding statistically is more dangerous, just how much depends on how you classify it, serious injuries of fatalities etc
