Default Should have asked this ages ago. (brake reservoir level)

As the title suggests I should have asked this one when I got the bike but I seemed to have managed till now. I've done plenty of searchin but couldnt find any other threads that refer to this problem. Its just I cant see any levels on the front brake reservoir or the reservoir for the cooling . Its not that I'm short s2ighted or anything but the cylinders are just...well....cloudy to say the least and I was wondering if anyone had come across this or am I just not lookin hard enough?? Is it due to sunlight or something?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Phil

Yeah thats what I've been doing for last 16 months but when I parked my bike up this morning at work I noticed the other guys bike and you can see right in his reservoir (oomph!), and I just thought,,works really borin, may see if I can get me one of those, or at least find out if anyone else has the same problem. I also have the same problem with the cooling reservoir and I cant make out if its full or not so I'm just having to guess its level at the moment. Ah well..

Front break reservoir on a naked is a square shape, and it has a sight glass built into it
I think on the faired model it is round, not sure if there is a sight glass

As for the coolant, it can be hard to see especially if the bottle is a little opaque and the coolant is more or less transparent. Keep wiggling the bike from side to side and look hard.

If you can't see the level it could be totally full or totally empty.
As brake fluid gets old it gets dirtier so harder to see through and could suggest that it needs to be changed. Can you get a pic of both?

I can't tell the coolant, but your brake fluid reservior looks empty - pop the lid off and have a look pdq

Probably best to do the same for the coolant

You know you can actually buy dark coloured brake fluid to allow you to be able to see more clearly. You could always try that. But agree with Mr Toad, your level does look empty.

As Ape & Toad say, undo the lid on the brake fluid and have a check, same with coolant, careful not to spill any.
