Nice one , I picked up my new k5 12 months ago & I was over the moon , the weather was not good when I picked mine up ( 2 inches of snow!) , the weather is going to be great tomorrow / weekend ,ideal for your new bike .
Remember that bike will need running in , you will have new tyres and everything will need to bed in , brakes etc ,therefore take things easy . Try & vary throttle positions , change up down gears etc , may be a good idea to do 20 miles of town riding / mixed riding when you first pick bike up . If I remember the first 500 miles need to < 5000 rpm ( approx 70 mph) , remember to get the first service done @ 600 miles . Might be a good idea to book first service in when you pick bike up as garages are getting busy now. Enjoy ! Cheers Steve

i think Suzuki recommends the following :-
Initial 500 miles up to 5000 rpm 501- 1000 miles up to 7500 rpm over 1000 below 10500 rpm I recon the first 100 - 200 miles are most important as the motor is so new. I ran mine in mostly to the book , bike has done 14k and does not use any oil between services & runs as sweet as a nut. Some people say that if you run the bike in hard you get more performance , I would rather have a bike that will lost longer ! When running bike in you do need to load the engine to enable it to break in , however I would not exceed Suzuki's recommendations by much (esp before 1st 600 mile service) . Cheers Steve

Oh the vexed running in question. Some people stick to the book, others don't. I didn't and my SV didn't fall to pieces. Well it did, but that's another story

Brakes and Tyres. watch them there always shabba on a new bike for about 100 miles.

Yep watch the brakes and tyres. They'll need scrubbing / bedding in.
I was told I could safely exceed the running in RPM my about a 1000 or so RPM when I picked up my GSXR, Liz was told the same when she picked up her SV. When you're running it in, dont hold it a constant RPM, you want to vary the RPM and also put the engine under some load otherwise you wont bed the piston rings in properly and it''ll burn oil. Remember you want to run the gearbox in as well. Best thing to do is to just ride it and try not to think to much about running the bike in and then before you know it, it'll be run in. Its pretty hard from what I read to knacker a modern engine when running in. Enjoy it.

As long as the engine is under load and not labouring she'll be just fine. Town traffic is a reasonable idea, just keep the speed variable with slight throttle up and down. Don't rev it consitently higher than the suggested until the first oild and filter change. After that just gradually increase the engine revs, rule of thumb for me was an extra 500 rpm per 50 - 100 miles. Engine will be sweet after that. Oh and enjoy

yip, watch the brakes until your first service at least i'd say (and my dealer said). They told me when I picked up my bike to pop in if I had a problem with them, and they'd adjust the there and then for nothing, a few weeks later I found my brakes stuck to the wheel, and right enough, a 2 min job.
