Default Rear Hugger - Difference

Can any of you tell me if there is a difference between a rear hugger on an SV650 and an SV650s?

I am talking about a K3 model in particular.

Also is it the same hugger for all of the models from K3 to K6?

Don't know about the naked/faired thing, but I can tell you that the K3-7 huggers are not all the same.

I forget whether it was K4 or K5 onwards, but the tool kit moved from under the seat to slung under the bike behind the shock, so the later bikes have a plastic box hanging down which would foul the earlier hugger. They can be made to fit, but it's a hammer/hacksaw/mallet/smashing job.

I thought the mounting points were different between faired + naked, too. Not 100% on that though!

Looks like a curvy rear hugger to me - see all those pointy owners fit curvy huggers to their bikes really want a curvy but arn't cool enough.

I bought a k3 hugger thinking it would fit my k5.

The k3 hugger has 2 mount holes on the RHS which bolt to the 2 holes in the swing arm which hold the brake line brackets. My k5 bike has only 1 hole in the swing arm, 1 cm behind the front hole in the K3 hugger (b*stards!).

If you try to use the front hole with the existing swingarm hole the hugger doesn't fit evenly. I had to drill & tap 2 new holes in the swing arm & it fits great now.

The k5 toolbox hasn't fouled the k3 hugger yet but it probably would if the suspension bottomed out.

There are posts on here somewhere where wrongly fitted k3 huggers on later bikes cracked due to the toolbox hitting them.

I'm not sure about the difference between naked & S models, if you look at accessories on the Suzuki website, there are different part numbers for K3 vs later models, some mention S, some don't, I imagine the difference if any would be the exact position of the mount holes.

Hope this helps. Its worth it as the hugger really looks the part.

I thought the rear on the K3 (Pointy) onwards were the same.
The only diffence from K3 onwards was the location of the tool kit and battery which made fitting a K3 (and Possibly a K4) hugger onto a K5 or K6 difficult due to the low slung tool kit.
Just my understanding (never looked at a K4 onwards as i've got a K3). Although i'd be interested to know as i'm in the market for a 2nd hand hugger myself.
Cheers
Chris

The toolbox moved on the K4 because the fuse box is now in the space where the toolkit used to go (under the pillion seat).

The fuse box is now under the pillion seat because there's no space inder the rider seat. There's no space under the rider seat, because the back of the bike from the rider seat backwards is lower than the K3.
