Yeh about bloody time they did that in london. If they wanted to have a field day they could do it near a school. It constantly amazes me how many of the mums-on-the-run get onto the phone the second the kid is out the door if not before they evn get to the school!
There are 3 schools very close to me and i pass them all on the way into work and there is always broken glass strewn on the road from one ding or another

And personaly, i think commercial drivers like those mentioned in the article should be subject to a 3 strikes and youre out rule.
Always makes me mad to see a van full of builders yet the muppet driving is also the one on the fone!! Cant one of the others do the chatting for him? (ok in fairness he may also be the only one who speaks the lingo, who knows but still) Or cabbies who have a fare on board yet are driving and sending texts as they do All these types should lead by examlpe and so if they break the law the 3rd time its an automatic 1yr ban. Effective at roadside, cop takes the license, ejects the occupants and confiscates the vehicle.
I'm not a fan of giving cops too many powers but for driving while on the fone i think roadside execution is sometimes the best answer

good to read that they're stopping people and prosecuting.

Firm but fair, firm but fair.

In the car with her indoors( driver ) and baba, passed 2 vans, both of the drivers on phone, told her indoors to slow down while passing them, "click" took photo from my mobile of each driver and number plate.
The 2nd driver realised and quickly dropped his phone.
Personally I think the phones should be confiscated from the idiots as well as being given the 3pts and £60 fine.
