Default Clutch cover O-ring size

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the size of the O-ring for the clutch cover on a 2001 curvey (think they are the same for all models. Suzuki want over £12 for a new one - it's not that I'm tight but its just an O-ring.

Cheers.

Only the curvys have the clutch inspection cover. On the pointys you have to remove the whole engine cover.

I'd be surprised if you could source the O ring from elsewhere other than a Suzy dealer, although someone will be along in a mo to put me in my place I'm sure.

Good news is that as long as you're careful the O ring should last virtually forever

Thanks for that.....see curvies are the better bikes

I know O-rings hardly go, but I've a slight oil leak. I'll be removing the cover so would like to fit a new o-ring anyway, just in case. I don't want to take the cover off to find it knackered then have to source a new one

I have contacts through work in the engineering industry that can supply me with just about any o-rings I want. But I'll need to know this size first. I doubt Suzuki would have gone to the trouble (expense) of having a one off size o-ring made especially for them, I guess they would have found something suitable from a supplier for a few pence.

If anyone has theirs out please could you let me know.

Cheers.

As yours is leaking anyway, wouldn't it be easier to take yours out and reassemble without, temporarily, until you've sourced a copy. I'm sure some folks on here would welcome a cheaper option too.

And yes, the shapely beauties are best.

I had endless problems with oil leaking from the inspection cover and no amount of o-rings and sealent fixed it, you might be lucky but I ended up changing the whole right hand cover for one from a pointy and now I never have to worry about leaks ever again

If you can find one cheap on ebay or something it maybe worth a look, just a thought....

It's not a plain o-ring. It has got bobbles (for want of a better word) on it. I an sure a plain o-ring would do the job. There is no pressure (to speak of) behind that cover. Get a longer o-ring than you will need and cut it to fit. Install so the cut is at 12 o'clock and use a gasket sealant like blue hylomar. I think the diameter of the o-ring in cross section is about 3-4mm. I used a Suzuki one to fix a leak that I had on my curvey. It worked for a while, but started leaking again after a few months. The cover is plastic and I think it just warps slightly.

I don't get on here much, but having dusted off my old SV and taking it for a spin, I find that I also have the dreaded oil leak.

The way I figure it, is that the original 'O' ring has lasted nearly 6 years, so it's entitled to shrink a bit, so I rang the local Suzuki dealer to see if they had one in stock. Their stock showed a nil balance, but that there was a superceded part number.

Does anyone know why the part number has changed? Maybe because the old one leaked?

Posted on this several times - two examples of which are:

Obviously make sure the plastic cover is undamaged and don't overtighten it as it can distort. These two I'm sure you're more than aware of, but the correct setting for these bolts is rather less than you might expect.
This is not an uncommon leak, I've found that replacement of the 'O' ring is rarely needed, work in excess of this is simply un-necessary for such an easily remedied and common problem.

Already read those, but with the lack of corrosion elsewhere on the bike, I'm not sure that it will solve my problem. As I've said, the bike's a K1, and has been neglected by me for a few years, so I'll treat it to a seal anyway.

You never know, I may be back on here soon offering to sell the old one.
