I have chance of a SV1000 snorkel to fit to my SV650. Is it worth doing or am I just as well taking the SV650 one off.
I intend to fit a K&N and risers. Oh its £20 BTW? |

I've heard good reviews of this and for £20 why not, adds to the induction roar and stops road debris and water getting in there!! Go for it!!

Yeah but I was wondering if there is any benefit to fitting the SV 1000 Snorkel over just removing the standard 650 one?

Probly not alot, but then your just left with it open to the elements. I can't remember who but someone on the org removed the 650 one and just put mesh across the hole to stop grit and **** getting in there!!! I wudn't leave it open without any protection though!!

Mine doesnt have a snorkel just a k&n and its seems fine
![]() What difference would the SV1000 snorkel make? Apart from stopping the road muck getting in? |

Stopping road much getting in sounds like a really good reason to me
![]() I don't want to kill the engine from allowing rubbish in with the air. My concern is it running lean and apparently burning the valve's out over time. ![]() |

I've been running without a snorkel for a while now. I also have a baffle-less scorpion fitted. So I think I probably am running a little lean (more air in, more air out, same amount of fuel).
I've seen no adverse affects. Maybe the air filter gets dirtier quicker, but that would be about it. For those scared of getting crap in your cylinders because of no snorkel, you have an air filter for a reason IMO. |

My understanding is that it might take say 10-20k for the valve problems of running lean to come to a point where you would notice. But by then they could be fubar.
I can't afford to risk it, not just financially but if it happened I know I'd never get it sorted ![]() |

I have a SV1000 snorkel. It just makes it louder (although not as loud as no snorkel). I also have a full system and had it remapped and it has a much more linear torque curve now. I prefered to have a snorkel over none because I didn't want water getting in the air box.
It's only £20 and it's the kind of thing you could sell on easily. |
