WTH, just got it out of storage, went to start it, all was well, then after 5 minutes of idle, the FI light came on, then about 5 minutes later, the RPM's go all the way like it is WOT but the throttle linkage is not broken, everything works fine.
Could it be bad injectors since the bike sat for 6 months? Any tips, warranty ran out last month, so go figure? I disconnected the battery, changed the oil, filled it with Super unleaded, and added fuel stabalizer when I put it in storage. This blows! Oh and my warranty went out exactly one month ago, dam! Bike has 950 miles! |

Not trying to be thick here, but what's WOT?
You can try sticking it in Dealer Mode, and this might tell you more definately what the story is... http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=10245 (It could very well be clogged injectors if you left it for 6 months though...) |

Wide Open throttle. Wonder what a typical repair shop will charge?

No idea really without knowing what the problem is.
Try that dealer mode thing for starters. |

Hi there,
I'm not sure about Wide Open, but my K5 has had the FI light come on a couple of times and each time, when I've pulled up the revs have been way up at 3-4k. Switch off and sit a minute and then your off again with everything back to normal. The dealer looked at it and put it down to a sticking throttle cable. That was a while back when the bike was very new and it's not happened since. Maybe since you're only at 950 miles and it's been laid up, the cable has got a bit dry and sticky. I'd look there and check both cable adjusters are set properly. Good Luck, Cheers, Garry ![]() |

Thanks guys, looks like I will just drop it off to the dealer, and just suck up the bill this time. I just won't have the time when I return from Korea in Mar 07 to troubleshoot/diagnose the issue. I am new to bikes. I have to move stuff including my 350 ZR out of storage and the ZR is more important when I return. Plus I have some mods to install on the ZR (exhaust, tailight upgrades, CAI, wheels, ect)
Hopefully they won't stick it too me on BS labor charges. Thanks again guys! |

im guessin its a pointy. if so they av an auto choke so that could be broken which can cause the revs 2 go higher than normal
