Question K5 / K6 partswapping?

Haven't even picked up the bike yet and already I'm spending money on it....

It's an ex demo bike, 05 registration and the dealer says it is indeed a K5 model. It's pointy, it's got a black frame, all sounds K5'ish so far. Except it's red. And I thought red only came in on the K6 model?

Sooo, I've either somehow got an early registered K6 model (vaguely conceivable since it's an ex demo bike) or a K5 with K6 paint. OEM Suzi parts (eg. belly pan, hugger etc) only show the standard K5 colours (black/blue/yellow) so to get red bits I'm looking at K6 parts. Anyone know of any glaring problems with slapping K6 bits on a K5? It doesn't look as though they really changed anything between K5 and K6 so I'm predicting few problems but always best to check eh?

just had a quick look on the suzuki website and it seems that they sell at least lower fairing panels in red for the K5. i'm not sure but i think the k6 red is different to the k5 red.

The K6 and K5 red are indeed different shades. I have a K6 and it's a lighter/brighter shade of red than the K5.

Oooh, that could have been costly Thanks folks, further searching (I know, I know) revealed that the apparantly little used K5 red is "YU7, Pearl Crystal Red" (same used as on the K5 SV1000) while the K6 red is "YHH, Marble Rakis Red".

Thanks again folks, time to talk to dealers.

BTW, seems the single seat cowl is at least interchangeable betwixt the K5 650 & thou, I doubt other bits are tho.

EDIT:
Yay for friendly dealers (Performance Suzuki in Tewksbury) - they phoned Suzuki who said they actually can supply a K5 belly pan in YU7 red. Brill. Moral of the story, even if it's not listed on the site it's always worth phoning a dealer
