Question Another legal question???

After sod all contact from the solicitors that are meant to be representing me, i received a letter in the post this morning.

Along with the usual waffle it indicates their costs are "minimum of £800 + 20% damages recovered up to £5,000 and 15% over that figure".

My question therefore is are their fees/costs recovered on top of the amount of compensation received, or will Mr.Lawyer(who from his typing seems a buffoon) take a nice big slice of the amount of compensation awarded?

If they do want a slice of my pie , they could end up getting alot more money than i do....which seems ridiculous.

After all i thought one of the benefits of legal cover was that Carole Nash would pay the legal fees....not me(which if they take part of the compensation essentially i am!)

Fortunately i have not signed anything yet but i am baffled to say the least.

CheersMark

Not an expert, but if CN are paying the legal fees, and you are awarded, say 10,000 (here's hoping ) Then you would be getting the 10,000, but CN would have to pay the Fees (or more likely claim from the other party for costs).

But I'm only guessing, wait for someone with more knowledge to pop up

IMO, CN are paying legal fees. Hand them the bill & pay your increased premium next year like a good chap!

Consult a legal beagle for more definate divinations.

Legally the solicitor has to write to you to confirm their fees and t&c's even though you wont be paying it.

Keep phoning them til you speak to the solicitor and confirm that the fees are covered by your legal cover. Also, you dont have to stick with the firm your insurers appoint so if you want someone else, you can appoint them and the legal cover should still pay for it. But check the legal cover t&c for that to make sure yours was the same as mine.
