Hi,
I'm interseted in signing up with the North Galsgow IAM, and was wondering if anyone here can give me any opinions and experiences. Just looking to sharpen up my skills and get some confidence on the new bike. Checked out the website which tells me to meet at Crow Road McDonalds, and tells me it's a Wednesday night, but doesn't give a time! ![]() |

There are a few from here who take part.
Meet at Crow Road retail Park - Partick, just at McDonalds as close to 6.15pm as you can manage. The idea is to pair off and leave at around 6.30 to maximise daylight and therefore observation. The first night is "free" and (the book says) after that you are expected to pay £4 to your observer to help with fuel etc. You should have a different observer most nights and may be supervised by a senior observer to make sure that your guy is doing a good job. Video recording is slowly being introduced on SOME rides, and I have to say that (having been filmed last week) personally, I think it's of great value. You can see faults and act upon them next time. Hopefully, you will also see yourself improve from start to finish. Expect to ride home in the dark, though if you need to cut the evening short, just tell your observer at the start of the night and they'll work around that. Cheers, Garry ![]() |

So what time is home time then? Don't suppose it makes much difference really, just curious. |

home time depends on where you head as its a different location every week. usually finishing up by about 9. the lighter the nights, the longer the ride. but just mention when you are booking in that you need to be away by a certain time and they will accommodate.
get along they are a great bunch |

I'd like to do IAM, but...
It was posted on here a while back that they are looking for commitment and folk to turn up EVERY week. Due to work I don't know where I'll be on an given Wednesday night, or if I can always get there by 6pm. Tomorrow will be Forfar for instance. I would only be able to go on nights when I was working in the office, and can leave straight away at 1/2 past 5. So whats the story? |

The main thing is to take something from each observed ride and to put it into practice. I should be along agin tomorrow night. Garry ![]() |
