Hi, i'm looking to replace my current cheapy boots as they are starting to fall apart. Now i'm riding an SV i'm thinking i should be increasing my protection level.
I've been looking at the Frank Thomas range that have some good boots for £69.99 and £99.99 but wondering what guidence the group can throw my way. The sales person said that i don't really need to exceed £100 as my bike 'isn't that fast' and said to aim to buy two different sets of bike gear (summer and winter) would you agree? Are toe sliders advisable, i don't lean that far ... yet ![]() Cheers Chris |

If you're going with just the one pair of boots then I'd say waterproof is your primary concern, to that end I'd be pushing you budget and getting these

I can buy two sets if needed, i just wanted to avoid going over the top and buying the best boots possible. As i mentioned originally the sales rep recommended £100 but what budget would you recommend for a decent pair of summer and/or winter boots?
Also what is your view on toe sliders? Chris |

Have to go with Rictus on this one - Sidi Blackrains are probably the best in the rough range you are looking at.
I got some £80 Gearne's back in July for my CBT/DAS etc - now falling apart after 6 months. I went with Sidi Vertigo Corsa's cos I liked the way they looked, but will probably get a back up pair of Blackrains, because the Vertigo Corsa's DO let in the rain. David |

Winter boots, as I said waterproof is the number one priority so something like the black rains (£130-£150)
![]() then summer you can get some race type boots anyway from £90 upwards, I use these ![]() Which are very good for the track days, but perhaps a little over kill for the road, expensive to at about £180-£200 a time, but you can get nice race boots for around £100-£120. Toe sliders I wouldn't bother with for winter, but summer it's not a bad idea. Cheers Mark.

Yeah, had a pair and even with heavy uses (that's 40,000 miles in a year or so) they were fine, didn't leak at all, the only better ones I've had were Daytona's and they were a lot more money.
Cheers Mark.

What retailers stock the Sidi Black rains? I'm thinking i might pop in and try a pair on just to make sure what size i need and then shop on the net for a better price...
![]() Are they generally a good size equivalent? Some boots i've tried on i've had to drop a size because of the way the boots are made up... |
