Me too, same problem. Chewy suggests GS500F mirrors as they fit my SV 1000S with spacers and are 1 inch longer.

I checked at the dealers today and they are £60 EACH!

Could it be that your riding style leaves your elbows hanging out like chicken wings...could you adjust it maybe?

In principal chewys mirror extenders seemed a good idea, but i decided against them as they would slow me down when i filtered. Although the mirrors as standard dont offer a great view....it is possible to use them.

I ride with mirror extenders & have done for a while now.

I put these on before my trip down to Soho, and I was told by a couple of folks on the forum that filtering in London would be nigh on impossible with wide mirrors. I was told this so much that I was considering removing them before the trip.

In the end, I didn't get time to get them off the bike anyway. Did it stop me? Did it hell! I was more worried about catching the stock exhaust on a car's bumper than I was clipping the mirrors.

Move the bars left/right to dodge other vehicle's mirrors & move your head & neck if you can't see behind you.

chewys extenders are good..

pull yer mirrors in wen filterin!!

change yer elbow position--..

and also fiddle with the mirrors pop them up at a sharp angle..

see Mac609- he has a great angle on his mirrors.

Like buzzards wings perhaps, but with elbow jammed into hip the mirror is just about clear - and I cant ride for long like that.

I have these on the Ducati. My elbows never get in the way!

On the SV I just live with the problem really. I can move my head for a better view if necessary.

I find that my arms get in the way, but a way around it is to move your arms in and your head out to get a better view. When i did my test the instructor said it's better to show your intentions when mirror checking, you get noticed more by showing the driver behind your doing your best to see him. I always do it when slowing down and the amount of cage drivers that only just see you is worrying so i do my best to show i'm aware of the pratts!!!
