IMO, a power commander on an SV will do naff all, regardless of the can.
If you want to sort out fueling, the standard ECU can do that just nicely when tweaked professionally, without all the expense of a PCIII setup. I have a high-level scorpion by the way. |

I've just been told the can will take 2 weeks to get delivered!! Is this sort of waiting time normal?

Allegedly the Scorpion cans affect fueling a lot less than a lot of other cans out there. For normal (read not racing) riding you'll be OK.
I tried to get a Scorpion can for my SV last year, after waiting five weeks (was told ten days) and several inconsistent excuses from the dealer I cancelled it and got a CCC that turned up in two days. |

Give steve jordan motorcycles a ring. I know they have some Scorpion cans in stock and they normally have most things SV so you may be lucky and not have to wait 2 weeks. Afterall if it hasnt been sent then just cancel your order

A Race can is a Race can, they're all basically an 18" long perforated tube 2" id, performance wise there's nothing in it, its the build quality that differs drastically and the sound can depend on how much/type of packing is used and also how long it will stay in the can. Generally you get what you pay for a £100 Scorpion is the same build quality as a £200 Scorpion can, but a £200 Remus and the likes are leagues ahead. Most of the 'Budget' manufacturers use the same parts, just varies how much they pay the spotty oik to rivet them together (Scorpion, G-force, CCC, Blue-flame etc) This also applies with the baffles, the cheaper cans just have a baffle stuffed up them and generally harm the performance, But as an Example ive just done a CBR6rr 07 with an Akraprovic and the baffle lost 2hp at the top end (15+k!!) but the overall performance was not effected, no nasty flatspots and it didnt sound like a wet fart.
