Default F1 ticket price

A mate was talking about going to watch the Hungarian GP. I am not into cars, but it's an excuse to get away and one of them things I ought to tick off my list (i.e. seeing/hearing a live F1 race).

Anyhoo, £160 for a ticket!!!

I said to my mate in response "er, I don't want to buy a Ferrari, just watch them you know"

At £160, I declined nicely ...

How can they justify £160 just to watch? ... I'd want free beer (and burgers) all day too for that sort of wedge!!

Blimey, I would have expected that for Silverstone, but not the Hungarian GP (or am I so out of touch with the whole world of F1?).

Mind you, seeing an F1 car in action is truely awesome. When I was 14 and living in Milan, my South African friend's dad worked for the consulate there and got us pit passes and grandstand seats with team Jordan (then sponsored by Sasol) for the Monza race. One on the best days of my life so far........talking with Eddie Jordan and Rubens Barricello, having Prost bump into me and seeing he was wearing the same Air Max trainers as me , and being feet from Senna as he got out of his motorhome and into his chopper.....definately went home smiling

Shame F1 has gone to pot now though , but when you see the cars in real life, it's unreal how low they are to the ground!!

Go to the renault championship....its free and they have an F1 demonstration 3 times a day. The 3.5 ltr Renault championship cars are louder than the F1 cars and just as quick.

£160 does seem a bit steep, especially for a circuit like the Hungaroring. Overtaking on the track is almost extinct in F1 and on a circuit like that one it even rarer. Save your cash and go to the WSB at Silverstone on Sunday. See you there!

I would have thought that the hungaroring would be one of hte best circuits for F1. More corners, less straights, reducing the advantage of top end speed, therefore giving the smaller teams less fo a disabliltiy.

Remember Damon Hill in his Arrows F1 car. Would've won that race if it wasn't for a washer perishing on his last lap!

There's more to going quickly round a circuit than just top-end speed but that's another subject all together!

Anyway, I used to watch all F1 races during the early 90's but kind of lost interest once Mr. Schumacher started to dominate and I just remember the Hungarian GP as being a bit of a procession. Having said that, I am getting older and my memory isn't what it was.

What were we talking about? Oh, that's right, ticket prices. Spa, now there's a good track.

And the fact that the sport is all run by electronics and a steering wheel now. I've noticed how the Moto GP has gone up bit by bit each year. Anyone know how much the tickets are yet?

Went to the Spa GP a couple of times, good fun camping near by, BBQs, beers etc, and the cars are pretty amazing to watch go by, but it is a bit steep. Been round the paddock, pits and garages too, the benefits of having a mate who's an F1 Press Officer.
