I've got a basic scorpion stand and have used it on all the bikes, from the Bandit 1200 down to the trail bike.

It's needs must. You can do most things on a side stand but for real security a paddock stand is the minimum I'd have. I've got a real cheap thing I bought from the BMF years ago. I prefer hooks and bobbins rather than the cups that go under the swingarm, they move about a bit too much for my liking.

Hi,

I bought front and rear paddock stands on ebay (£39.99) and also a bobbins and hooks set(£12.50). The stands seem to be really good strong quality. It was bloody difficult using them as they were though so, once I had got the bike up onto them, I marked out how far the rods were displaced and subsequently drilled new holes for the split pins. A drill stand is necessary for the drilling. Plus lube the drill as you cut the holes.

I also screwed some wood together to make up a couple of inch thick block an which I could rest the side stand, to straighten up the bike, before lifting the rear. It works like a dream. Before, I had to hold the carriers open as I tried to fit them onto the swinging arms and front fork bottoms - was a nightmare!
