Should be ready to collect a week tomorrow, keeping fingers crossed for nice weather.
Any advise for new rider (of SV, been riding twist and go 180cc for 6 years) ? Any accessories I should buy, it's having Datatool CAT1 fitted and I'm going to get a paddock stand for it. Anything else? |

Be prapared for the engine braking on the sv, especially in the lower gears, it can be a bit of a surprise.
Take it easy to begin with and don't push yourself. Oh, an aftermarket can will make it sound great, have a look in the exhausts section for more of an idea: http://forums.sv650.org/forumdisplay.php?f=137 Enjoy. |

Sport?
There's a sport version.....................! Or do you mean the SV650S (as in Slightly faster then the unfaired) ![]() Just kidding, hope the weather holds out. You'll love it but get a new can straight away and enjoy that V twin roar! |

Yep engine braking will catch you out the first time you shut the throttle in first (which will likely be about 50 yards down the road), as said, you get used to it soon enough
![]() As for accessories, a big can of chain lube (or a scottoiler if you're likely going to be doing mega distances), and, unfortunately, crash bungs are a wise first accessory ![]() Make sure your gear's sorted, get all squishy bits covered, you don't need to blow a small fortune on this, just get everything covered first. PS. "Sport" is the S with fairing lowers and a seat cowl ![]() |

Nice bike - enjoy!
(btw. the sport is in addition to the 'S' and comes kitted with lowers, seat cowl etc) |

To go from no throttle to partial throttle (enough to hold 45mph in 4th), is around half a degree now. Basically you breathe on it, and it goes. Great for me, and makes it pretty agressive in the twisties (on the throttle sooner etc), but not so good when you're not aware of it. Welcome Lakes_Puma. ![]() |

Welcome, which colour sport have you got your hands on. Most people either love or hate the sport colours, I love mine.

engine braking is fun if you're upright, you can make the back end chirp like turbocharger waste gates (yes, immature but fun) - not so fun when leaning left into a roundabout entrance - i'm sure the twitch feels more impressive than it looks...
initially mine felt like the throttle was always either all go or full stop - then i realised my throttle control was abysmal - now it's much smoother because i've been making an effort to improve it other than that, enjoy, and try not to cane it during the running-in period...
