Question swap rear tyre or both after puncture

I started another thread about RAC plugging rear tyre .
Question is , going to get a new Diablo Strada Rear fitted , the front has 2.5 mm in the middle and 2 mm on the shoulder / edges , do you recon I need to change the front at the same time .
If I remember rightly you only get 3 - 3.5 mm on a new front tyre ?
What do you recon ?

Cheers Steve

no. change it when it's needs changing. there's no need to change the front just because you're changing the rear. fronts & rears wear at different rates, so it's no uncommon for a front to last for the llife of two rears

One caveat. What tyre do you have on the front. If you are swapping like for like on the back then you should be fine, but if making any kind fo change, ie mixing manufacturers or profiles, I would say may need to do both.

So what you already got on there?

As I said in PM, whatever you decide, ride appropriately and you'll be fine.

If you want to talk tyres, talk to Blue_SV650S. He puts all sorts on his bike, and mixes tyres. It's all about how you ride, knowing your boots aren't what they normally would be.

I can recommend a good place near Stratford on Avon for tyres.

Very reasonable and he does ride in ride out.
