i went on a 500 mile trip last weekend, 75% of it in welsh wales.
i was v apprehensive about it before hand having heard lots about the "nazi" police in wales, zero tolerance and all that jazz....i saw two coppers the entire weekend. and only one of them was parked up waiting for speeding motorists. was i lucky or are they not as bad i as read? oh ps has all of wales been freshly tarmaced? 90% of the miles we did in wales was new gorgeous tarmac with virtually no traffic on it!! |

went from brizzle to chepstow, a466 to monmouth, a40 to abergavenny, then to brecon and llandovery, a482 to aberaeron, then up to aberystwyth.
on way back went along a44 and a470 (bestest roads ever prolly), the a479 to abergavenny and then reversal of route there. aces indeed. |

A lot of the roads in the area you were in have been recently tarmac'd (some of them with Shellgrip too!). And yes, there's very little traffic.
Great aint it? ![]() As for the police, they tend to stick to more populated areas, unless they're following you in a helicopter. If you think the A470 is a good road, give me a shout next time your in Wales, I'll blow your socks off!! |

Your were probably in South Wales Constabulary and Brecon and Powys Constabulary areas. I don't think any/many of us have had much bother with them.
Last time I was up in Rhayader there were loads about but I didnt see anyone pulled and it was crawling with dirt bikes and trailies of dubious legality. Glad you had a good time. Last edited by the white rabbit; 22-06-07 at 09:28 PM. |

As the good Dr says, South Wales and Dyfed/Powys plod are fine..... Gwent (Abergavenny/Chepstow part of SE Wales are a little less tollerant but not rabidly so (we've never had bother on our rideouts and they even offered escorted rideouts with them).
Just stay out of North Wales ![]() |
