Red face Preston To Stirling

Hello Guys,
I'm Based in Preston at the mo but was going to visit my folks in Stirling next weekend. Rather than blast up the motorway I want to make it a wee bit more interesting.

I was thinking of taking the A702 off the motorway to Edinburgh then X country via Rosyth to Stirling.

Any advise or better routes to make the journey more fun??

Cheers

Oh this is the first big run out for my curvey!!!
