Im in the market for some street boots. Something that i can ride with, wear all day at the office and wear afterwards and not look like a power ranger. Recently my attention was drawn to icon's field armor and chuka boots. They offer decent protection, are affordably priced, and look great.
Yesterday I went to a local dealer who had them and I tried them on. They are as comfortable as one can expect and wrap around the ankle nicely with thick padding and straps. I went out to my bike and sat on it--GOOD THING I DID. I couldnt get the toe under the shifter. I dont have big feet (size 10) and no matter what I did I couldnt shift. My opinion-- dont buy them |

Couldn't you adjust the shifter to allow the boot to go below?
Been thinking about getting some Icon stuff, but would have to import - ie buy blind. They got good reviews on the field armour stuff so interested in them. Were the Field Armour less of a problem than the Chukka? Thanks David |

I thought about adjusting the shifter but I would hate to alter the bike around my gear-it should be the other way around I think. The field armors were worse than the chukkas. Actually they were probably the same but came up higher on my legs. Im currently looking at some alpinestars stuff.

I actually purchased a pair of Field Armors off Ebay not too long ago and I did so with the knowledge about the thick front tip. Allow me to say, it really takes some getting to used to!
On the stock shifter, even adjusting the rod makes for a terribly uncomfortable fit. After having upgraded to the Gilles rearsets, the boots are a "shoe in". It was an expensive upgrade but the Gilles have been wonderful and the boots have saved my ankles twice now. Let's recap! Stock + Icon = Bad Aftermarket + Icon = Maybe ![]() |

Actually having ridden with the Field Armour Boot for 2 days now I think that stock pegs are fine.
Yes it is different from my Sidi's but not THAT much different. May still adjust the gear shifter, but then I rode happily with it at its heighest setting just after I replaced the lever following my off and only adjusted it down a bit a couple of weeks later. Happy with the boots ![]() David |

These boots were AWESOME in my little accident. It looked like someone had taken a grinder to the side of the boot.
Fortunately my foot / ankle was unharmed in an extremely high speed wreck. I highly recommend these boots to anyone riding, while a bit on the bulky side they will save your ankles. |

Been riding with mine for almost 2 months now.
Yes they are bulky - I still ocasionally catch the gear lever and flip it into 2nd (from neutral) when moving my foot to step down into 1st, but thats the only problem. The adjustment to the gear lever was minimal. And they were only about £50 Even wore them with my kilt to a wedding at the weekend (was a Goth wedding, so fairly informal) David
