Default Pillions leaning the wrong way

Out for a ride a few days ago, I got so fed up of my girlfriend tensing up and leaning the wrong way on roundabouts and tight bends (no idea why- she's usually my best pillion) that I grabbed her by the arm with my left hand and actually pulled her over to the correct position with me as I leant out. It wasn't a concious decision, but I will be doing it in future. It worked wonders

I pulled over and told her what she was doing wrong and it turns out she had been concious of it and ended up thinking about it too much on the approach to each corner and hence was stiffening up. Second half of the ride was okay.

Top Tip - tell your pillions (whoever they may be) to look over the shoulder thats on the inside of the corner

I.e. if going left, then look over the left shoulder, and look over the right shoulder for right turns

This will encourage them to lean

Also, pillions may prefer hoolding round you to supoort themselves better under braking. This will also encourage them to lean into the turns

I've never taken a pillion, never will,
however I very rarely ride pillion these days but when I do Matt screams--Who's riding this bike, me or you. oops

I always tell new pillion riders to let me do the work, just sit like a sack of spuds and enjoy the ride. Don't worry about the bike tipping over, because it wont.

Nice Brolly Dolly at Mugello asked me to give her a ride. I told her RCV not built for that. She said,"Who's talking about the bike Oh Dani Boy."

I take a pillion pretty regularly. If the pillions sitting upright and tense- it feels very very uncomfortable! It makes them much more scared! I find a pillion easy though- unless filtering!
