Hi ,
My original chain has given up the ghost , first 14 k was ridden without scotoiler , fitted scotoiler at 14k & now up to 19k , when adjust tightest part of chain correctly other parts of the chain are too loose . Been quoted 130 quid to supply & fit a gold x ring chain , chain is 100 & fitting 30 quid , seems a fair price to me , what do you recon ? Hoping to get 30 k out of this chain with the scotoiler. Cheers Steve

Hi Hovis
Forget to mention the price includes chain & sprockets . What's the difference between O ring & X ring chains ? Do the X ring chains last longer ? Cheers Steve

![]() Search on 'X' and 'O' ring differences - there's info on here.

Morning all.
As said many times before there are so many makes of chain, & all the makers do several different grades. Therefore just because a chain is gold & may have 'x' rings, doesn't necessarily make it better than a normal chain of a higher grade with 'o' rings......There's little or no advantage in having an 'x' ring chain over an 'o' ring chain provided it's kept lubricated. My advice would be to go for a Tsubaki SG (normal) or SGX (gold 'x' ring) from B&C express 01522 791369. They also do either JT steel sprockets, or Renthal. If you go for Renthal get the hard anodised rear & not the standard alloy. Well worth the extra couple of quid. Forgot to mention that B&C list the APX chain as standard for the SV650, make sure you ask for the SG or SGX. Cheers. Last edited by Spanner Man; 12-07-07 at 08:32 AM. |
