Default FORK Cleaned

Right so there i was saturday thought screw it i'll do the forks, text baph asked him what was best to use, used the wet and dry paper idea in the end, and a sponge with like the bug remover bit on it. started to get some off, but then noticed the areas that were hit badly were(it looks like) taking the coating off the forks. So you can now clearly see where it was affected. Will get round to some piccys of the one i did first. Is this now a send them off to be coated jobby now??

My understanding of pitting, is that it leaves sharp edges, and as the forks move up/down, that sharp edge grinds parts of the forks you don't want grinding.

Wet & dry (or like I said, dremel) will happily get rid of the rough bits. That's stage one.

Then you want to protect it from further corrosion (and pitting), by any means possible. Usually sending them off for powder coating will do the trick nicely, but I suppose you could just paint them as well (but then how quickly would the paint be rubbed away by the up/down nature of the forks?).

Ok so heres a piccy, as you can see on the right side is where i am talking about what i think the paint has been taken off the forks, just to note this is the mainly affected area, and the pitting was not cleaned for a very long time. Both areas have been cleaned up but the left was either completely clean or only tiny ammount of pitting. This is them after all the pitting has been removed.
