Hi,
I need to replace the ignition on my Curvy SV. The heads on the bolts holding the ignition on look a bit like this ![]() Any idea what tool I need to remove them and where I can get it from? Cheers Alex Last edited by FreshAL; 19-07-07 at 10:21 AM. |

If you have normal torx bits anyway, break the pin off with a small screwdriver & a hammer.

You can get sets of scrwedriver bits that cover all of the assorted stupid "security" bits from Machine Mart for about £4...But they're not very good, I mangled a pair recently trying to undo some stiff bolts. It's better to spend a couple of quid for a better tool and not mangle a bolt, than to save a couple of quid and end up drilling or drifting out a mangled bolt, IMO. Those ones are threadlocked, a spot of heat can help.

If i remember correctly it is a T40 size, maybe someone can confirm that? And they were an absolute git to remove when I changed my lockset. Like northwind said they are threadlocked in. If you can get a torx bit to use in a ratchet you'll get more leverage on them, and I had the fairing and all the front subframe removed to give me better access. But I still ended up taking the big hammer and hacksaw route to remove most of the old knackered lock. So much for finesse and a careful approach, get the manchester screwdriver on it!!
