haha this is old news to you guys.. but new to me.. i finished day 3 of MSF and we had suzuki 250 cruiser style bikes.. they were fast.... and i really enjoyed them.. they were ''go kart'' fast anf fun
then my neighbor let me test ride the sv650 after i was finished and omg!.. the torque is amazing when going from a 250 cruiser to a 650 semi-sport... i had no helmet but i did have eye protection...i freakin yanked the accelerator.. and god damn does the sv move.. the air filled my mouth and nose up.. when i was hitting only 60 mph.. he has a giza fairing tho... every time i yank the throttle it pulls me forward with amazing torque... man i have been contemplating the ninja 250/500 , cbr f4i , and fz6.. i wonder if they pull the same ... but i can see how people fall in love with this bike..i mean the torque is mind blowing i mean the bike is a 2000 non S model and she likes to move..i cant wait to get her up to highway/ insterstate speeds!!!! |

Does Florida not require a helmet? I know it's not exactly 'fashionable' over there but getting full kit is a good idea. It's all good until you come off and then it's really bad!
But anyway getting away from that - does that mean you've finished your training and can now go get a bike? You'll probably find the SV feels the most torquey out of the bikes you mention but bikes like the F4i (which I think is the CBR600F over here) and the FZ6 will pull harder and faster when they get higher up the rev range compared to the SV. This can make the low-down torque of those bikes seem less, whether it actually is the case is a different matter ![]() |

Being a twin, the SV is renowned for having great torque and I think this is one of the reasons it is such a popular bike, great useability for the road. |

There are a lot of comparisons in numerous mags where they compare FZ SV Ducati Ninja hornet.. the SV all ways comes out on top. quality comfort reliability torque cost.....I live in north west florida. I love the bike and the engine. I have owned numerous bikes. If want a bike that is comfortable quick and looks different than all the race replicas the SV is the way to go. if you are looking top end bike go with cbr gsxr ninja r1/r6.. the Sv is a great commuter. If you get one break it in and I'll bet that you will give most race replicas a run for their money light to light.... Plus the comfort level is much greater than the others... tons of info on the net..... if you are in the pensacola are look me up.

I rode my first SV650 yesterday. I'm impressed with the grunt its got. The motor has heaps of torque low down, it feels as good as my F650 Dakar, but a lot smoother.
I love the useable power between 3,000-9,000 rpm. I recently rode a BMWF800ST, the SV accelerates just as quick, if not quicker. I also prefer the riding position. The ST is too sporty for me. I'm looking around for a good second hand SV. |
