OK the time has come
![]() My b'day is a couple of weeks away and after checking with the insurance company I can get an 06 GSXR-600 or 750 or even a bussa ![]() But I decided to make a list of the bikes that would interest me and I'm just lost....I could easily have one of each!! So I'm after your views ![]() RSV-1000? GSXR-600? GSXR-750? ZX6R? ZX10R? Need sthing with fairings this time so I can do motorway miles but defo sthing sport with loads of power. |

Sort of depends how sensible you are.....
The SP2 is a very focused track bike, the fuel tank is tiny and the fuel consumption huge. Offsetting this are the good looks and, with a nice set of cans, the noise. The ZX6R goes from being a very very capable road bike (2000 J models and earlier G models, there isn't too huge a difference) to being more track biased, later models also get some seriously uncomfortable shocks at the back. Being a 600 means they require a bit of revs, but they really ain't too bad, I used to potter around london on mine just fine, the J model had pretty good weather protection as well. A ZX10 is a totally different beast, ask Treacle. The additional power isn't really relevant on the road, but hey, that's not the point really. The latest GSXRs are very good. RSV-R1000s are also good, and quite cheap, Aprilia seem better these days but you do have to watch out for spares availability, engine nice though. Try them all, plus some randoms - you never know what you might find that is great fun. If you do lots of motorway miles, maybe something in the more touring end of the sports category (and you can include earlier zx6r models in that) might be good. |

Ooh, the SP-2. Only bike I've ever taken on a testride and not wanted to take back- but only because I wanted to abandon it at the roadside and not have to ride the last 10 miles through traffic
![]() You've chucked out a list of very different bikes there, I think you really need to narrow yourself down a bit... Test rides! Of the bikes you've named, the RSV is what I'd have, not perfect but it's a fine attempt, and quite cheap for what you get. But then, I'm not you.

I'm really interested in the RSV only worry is italian quality! Can't afford to have a bike breaking down at all. I'm already streching myself with any of the above as I am looking at getting 05 or 06 models.

Prilla customer service and spares availability used to be crap.Don't know if they improved but I doubt it.
Have you considered one of the last (02-03)ZX9Rs.Same rear shock issues,but a lot of bike for the money.

Actually I would say its tough to find a specialist dealer - but check with some people in the know - have a look on AF1 website and you will get the low down on all of this. The 04 onward bikes are sound and the engine is bullet proof. Service costs are the same as any other bike and I think they still have the 4 year warranty available on these models.
