Well I finally got a serious go on a 675 on Saturday. My mate booked a 2 hour test from a dealer.
I only had 20 minutes on it, so not a big review, however: It's small, it makes my 954 Blade look huge, and 5 years ago people were saying that the Blade was tiny..... It's not as uncomfortable as you may think. Yes there's a lot of weight on your hands and yes the pegs are tucked up, but no more than on say an R6 or new GSXR. It turns on thought control. First roundabout I came to I almost stacked it as I pushed like I would on my 'Blade, only to find myself falling at a huge rate of knots. It's so sharp..... Handles ace, although the brakes are not as good as those on my '03 Blade, and that surprised me. But it does like twisty roads. There is something very special from that 3 pot engine. It pulls and pulls, much more than any other middlewight I've ridden. And oh the sound, even from the stock exhaust is music. It needs a decent DB screen as the windblast is pretty obvious. Other than that, it's a nice piece of kit. Would I buy one ? Personally no, for the same money I would have the new 600RR, which is not quite as focused, and probably has better build quality. However, if I wasn't a Honda fan then I'd go for one over a GSXR/R6/ZX6. If you haven't ridden one, book a test, it's worth an hour or so of your time, just because it's different.... . |

I had a 675 as a loaner while WIlma was in for service (the advantages of having a bro working at a Triumph dealer). I did almost 100 miles on it.
Its tiny, its fast, its arguably the sexiest bike on the planet and its British. The breaks are sharper than the SV's by a noticable margin, and its very agile. On the downside...its a tad tall, the clocks are rubbish (tucked under the screen and tiny digits)the screen is almost useless at anything over 70mph (not that I went that fast officer) and I can't afford one. Also I would want to spend about £800 on cosmetics (exhaust, indicators, screen, cowl, probably a gel seat) As a comparison - although not that useful as no riding was involved... I have sat on a GSXR1000 and felt more cramped. I have sat on a 600RR and got straight off because the seat was so uncomfortable. I have sat on a new R6 and thought it was a touch too tall for me...and the dash is incredibly ugly. |

Just had a look at the provisional timetable for the weekend...short races but lots of them! Looks like I might have to get that pass!
