Hi folks,
The quest for some tuneful pipes for the Viffer did not go well at the NEC. However, Quill managed to put themsleves in the frame with thier can do attitude. So I need to know what folk's experience with quill has been.. Sound? Quality? After Sales? And some more specific information if anyone has tried thier Tri-Oval cans? Thanks all |

Had a quill on my sv 'til I stacked it at the track. I personally really liked it. Wasn't nearly as loud as some others, but had a really nice sound: not much louder (but better sounding) than standard at tickover, but opening up at about 6k to something really nice and fruity.
Quality of construction seemed good, after sales seemed good (I had to get a different link pipe from them and they sent it to me gratis) all round recommendation really! |

Thanks Bear.
Can you tell me if that was road legal or not? Did you run it with no baffle? Just for comparison really. My viffer is so quiet, I think straight pipes would be OK! |

The Quill doesn't have a removable baffle: according to their blurb at low RPM it works as a baffled can, at high RPM it works like a race pipe. This mean that (allegedly) you get the best of both worlds. It supposedly works somehow to do with the back-pressure of the can, but I'm too thick to understand it myself...
BTW, mine was the T3, which doesn't have a baffle to remove. According to the website the TriO and the Evo2 have a removable one, so dunno how they will sound. |

I'm looking at quill myself for my K7 naked - quite like the sound of their Evo2 can with the removable baffle.
My main concern is that although the standard one sounds ok... it sounds very quiet while riding; a problem I find if I am on the motorway. Does the quill sound any better at high speed/revs? Also does it give any noticeable increase in performance? |

I've a T3 fitted, which is BSI kite makred for road use. Its been on about 5yrs and looks as good as new. Quality is excellent, service was excellent. They fitted it for me, no cost.
Performance wise - it takes out the hestitancy that the standard can had on low revs in low gears. But I doubt that its adds anything else. Noise - it is quiet but does get lounder the more revs you use, apparantly designed that way. |
