Hi
Bike failed its MOT for a slightly sticking calliper , not a problem I think , buy 2 sets of pistol seals for 7 quid a side and do both sides over the Bank Holiday Weekend . Took both callipers off and overhauled then (found 1 calliper wasn't floating and had siezed . ![]() Can I feck get them bled up . The lever virtually touches the bar before any braking happens . I have cracked every banjo bolt starting at the master cylinder and working my way down in order finally finishing at the bleed nipple (I'm Old Skool (read cheap) , pipe and bottle ) . I have also tried the brake lever pulled back overnight and that doesnt help . I went through 3 litres of fluid yest bleeding so I am starting to think that something else is wrong , the Master cylinder is faulty . As i now have no bubbles and still no brakes lol . If it is , can I use the master cylinder off an 04 R6 ( pre-bembro i think) , and please help me out here , but having a bigger bore than the SV's M/C as standerd should result in a slight shortening of the lever action ?? (i like the brakes out at the end of the lever , small press for instant brakes kinda thing , a bit too much travel on the lever for me personally as stock ). TYIA Hopefully Soon |

OK taken that you know the basic principle and have generally done everything right, and no fluid is leaking from any seal/banjos etc.
could be one of three things, first a trapped air bubble in the caliper, try whilest bleeding it just tapping it with a spanner, you may find this dislodges it and you get a small bubble or two come out ? second, the air bubble is trapped in the master cyclinder, bleed the top banjo (don't forget to use a rag under it) and then with the top of the res removed pump the lever a few times (with the rest of the system closed) and watch for a few bubbles coming back up into the res. Three, when doing the second (above) if fluid is pushed back up it'll indicate the master cylinder needs sorting. you could also try hanging the calipers above the master cylinder and bleeding that way as it tends to be easier to get all the air out. Cheers Mark.
