Default oh well at least i'm alright

I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. I was just on my way home this evening from a friend’s house, taking it easy riding through the center of Edinburgh as the roads where wet and it was spitting a bit. Riding up to the traffic lights at about 15mph I lightly touched the brake and WHAM the bike went from under me and I was left riding fresh air watching my bike slide to a stop at the line. I hit the ground shouting a slow mo 'noooo' as if watching my co star get shot in some American action movie. As I ran to my bike (again in slow mo with the rain coming down a bit harder now) some very kind and shocked looking pedestrians helped me get the bike up and to the side.
No damage to me, Kevlar jeans looking good if a bit damp on the knee. R&G crash bungs worth their weight in gold, right side bung took the entire slide and there’s a tiny scratch in the can and a small scratch on the bikini fairing. But apart form that the bike is in good working order.

Had a quick scout around the traffic lights and found a lovely long rainbow of deasal all the way up to the lights. Can only assume this was what caused the spill.

First spill of my biking career and I’m glad It wasn’t more serious!

Glad you're alright.
You're now officially a biker, just don't go making a habbit out of it like I did. My last one was a write off for the bike and almost a write off for me (over five weeks later and I managed to walk three wierd looking steps without crutches today!), be careful on these roads, especially with it getting wetter and the leaves appearing.

glad your starting walk with out crutches, last time i was on crutches was post rugby injury in the winter walked out of a building onto an icy pavment and the crutches went every which way and i fell flat on my back! didn't hurt myself to bad and some very good looking ladys came and checked i was ok!

winter is evil it'll make you fall off your bike then when your on the road to recovery it'll trip you up and make sure your not fit till the summer!!!

Any fall is bad news, put it down to experience. At least you are OK. Sounds like the bike got off light as well.

Unlucky, but lucky too, we all fall off at some point and nothing you could have done about that one.
Glad everythings still in working order
