Hi to all my fella SV riders and moto riders new to the forum but been riding for over 14 years and racing for about 6 years now and I just picked up my first ever SV its a 2002 naked and I am having this unusual problem with the front brakes. Lets say that if the bike is been seating in the sun for a while the front brakes build pressure in the line and they lock the front wheel that I can't move the bike, I have to get my 8mm ranch out and open one of the bleeder valves on the calipers to release and pressure to get going again. I changed the fluid like 2 times in one week now and I am went from Bell Ray fluid and now I got the Motul 6200 in there now with no solution to my problem. I am confused maybe someone can shed some lite on this problem.
Thanks Sam ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm no brake expert but the first thing I'd check are the two holes ( my 03 pointy has 2) between the master cylinder and the fluid reservoir connection. As I understand it, the smaller of the 2 holes is to allow any air to escape out of the master cylinder and allow the fliud in the brake lines to expand and contact with changing temperature.
If this is blocked I believe it may cause the brake system to be hydraulically locked. When the fluid then gets hot in the sun, it cant flow back into the reservoir so it forces the brake pistons out. |

Morning all.
Ditto Tee jays suggestion, also make sure you're not overfilling the reservoir. It would be a good idea to clean & lube your calipers, as the beggars are notorious for binding. Cheers. |

Blocked transfer ports on the master cylinder, had this happen on my mates car.
http://shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?u=1915477qqq3519461 I'd rebuild it and run a bit of fine brazing wire down the holes, making sure you blow any debris out before you put it back together. Chris
