I have a standard k7, can anyone recommend what way to go to upgrade the standard suspension for fast controlled corner speed. Also has anyone fitted a timing retarder eliminator (TRE), if so does it make much difference. Last question what tyres suit the sv best?

Can't really answer the suspension questions am afraid, I'm sure someone will be on here soon with better knowledge... From the threads on here, I seem to remember that the TRE mod is pretty useless, although there may be peeps on here with first hand knowledge... As for tyres, have a look in the hardware section, under tyres....loads of info... HTH, Billy. |

If you are within reach of Stowmarket in Suffolk give MCTechnics a call, they will set the whole thing up for you according to your weight and riding style. Fixed fee system in place £185 + VAT for what they did to my bike; new fork springs, new better quality fork oil, custom made spacers to get the correct preload set up rear shock to suit my weight. Machine test ridden and then adjusted slightly at the front, and then I was sent out to ride and only when you return and are satisfied are you charged.
They say that any further adjustments are FOC, they did this to my Sprint ST and it has made it steer much better. |

Traxxion AK-20s in the front, Penske shock in the rear. A bargain at £1400 plus fitting

The fork springs are the worst bit, you can replace them yourself for under £100. After that to sort out the damping you need to go the emulator route, or head it all off at the pass by junking the forks for GSXR ones and selling the old ones on fleabay. I have the stock forks with emulators etc. and they're good alright, plus I did it a bit at a time. Now if I had the choice I'd go for the GSXR front end.
Rear - stock shock will do for now, it's not that bad. TRE - not going to rock your world, but DON'T buy a Nikko G-pack, for £100 it does what you can do yourself for free. Tyres - I like BT014s but all the racers are on Pirellis. |

Main thing is your budget/how the bike will be used. Do you really need new suspension (IE do you ride quickly/race, is the stock stuff worn out), or are you just looking for bling (no criticism if you are)? There was a good thread on here recently where people posted the various options of how to spend x amount on suspension. If you post your budget, we'll be able to help more. ![]() |

Racetech emulators, new spring and oil for the front based on your weight. Oil and spring is said to make things better, but if you want to do a top-job, get the emulators. Better to let a skilled suspension person do this change as they get the parts for a lower price than we do; cost for a top suspension expert in the USA, including parts, is $425.00; not sure how those mods price-out in the UK...+ - £ 200 ?? If budget is not an object, Penske for rear, + - $1200, £ 600, or, if budget is an object, pickup a 2006-2007 ZX6 or ZX10 Showa shock (three-way adjustable) off of Ebay + - £30. Either shock requires minor bike alteration but less alteration with ZX10. Once installed, setup suspension per instructions at http://mi-hsta.com/Suspension.html

Had an Aprilia rs 250 that was brill in corners, but i got fed up of the engine rebuild. Loved the buzz. The faces on the riders of R1's, Blades & 916's when we pulled over and saw it was only a 250 was great. I could go out and buy a brand new bike that handled and cornered brilliantly but i prefer the "Street sleeper" effect.
