The wifes on it now.
No viruses or anything like that (its just your antivirus being paranoid), but shes hogging all the bandwidth downloading stuff! Worth noting it only works with windows media player 11 so make sure you have that first. And if she can get it running, then anyone can! Good idea for her, she can download a few programs onto her laptop and then watch them when shes out babysitting in a house with no bb. Apparently parmount comedy are at it as well, but can't comment on that one as I haven't seen it yet. HTH |

Just my 2 penneth, but I tried 4OD a few months back to catch up on Peep Show and Derren Brown, but it got removed promptly.
I'm not one of these nerdy security freaks who needs their PC to be Dettol clean, but just so you know, that program (and, I believe, other similar net versions of terrestrial channels) is essentially a P2P service. It is the software of another company (I'm pretty certain from recollection) with a Channel 4 overlay, and the main problem is that the service will continue running on your PC after you shut down 4OD. It will use your bandwidth, to upload whatever programs you got from them, to other users unless you manually close it from Task Manager. Fine if you have unlimited usage, not so if you have capped. I found it really slowed down my net connection even after shutting the program down (before I got round to shutting down the service). When I checked their website for info/help on it's very, very clunky interface and refusal to work quite a lot of the time, there was not a single positive thread in their forums. They were all slamming it for being crap and I must concur. By all means have a go, maybe it's improved, but thought it worth sharing what I experienced and read. |
