Poor lass, probably never got to feel the pleasure of KFC!

In that picture it looks like she still has some meat on her arm, and the dress actualy makes her look fatter.

why does the press asume you have to be anorexic to be slim. Just look at any dancer! they eat like a horse and are so slim - but a much healthier looking slim promoting exercise would be a far better way of doing things

Thankyou Tomcat, I've been trying to put into the words the same sentiment as you expressed in your first reply for about an hour now and failing miserably.

From what was said in the article, she didn't seek help because she didn't think she had a problem.
Is this a pretty normal symptom with anorexia ?

Tricky, i beleive so. My girlfreind is doing her final year disseration around eating attitudes and body image. Some research suggests that anorexics dont see they are overly thin/skinny, yet see others that they perceive to be skinny AND succesful. So they desire to loose more weight / amintain a current weight.

Also, if you are making a good living (i.e. geting paid well) off being thin, why put on weight? That could be the thinking on alot of these anorexics minds.

It also says she has been doing it since she was 13, I can't imagine she knew much other than modeling so was probably scared of letting herself go

I think that's completely wrong, quite frankly. An eating disorder like hers isn't driven by greed in the slightest, and it's foolish to suggest such a thing. It's a mental illness that anyone (even men) are perfectly capable of succumbing too.

And like drinking or gambling, one of the first problems is realising that there's a problem; but unlike drinking, I'd imagine anorexia can probably kill you long before you get a chance to identify the problem, let alone get help.
