She goes outside and picks up a white stone, pops it in a bag and gives it to him.

Then I send her a letter saying that the landlord can **** off as the tenant has a protected tenancy and has security of tenure.

Firstly, LMFAO about some of those responses. Had me in stictches!

Anyway, the more serious of you (and those that haven't cheated, or had the penny drop yet)...

Therefore she looked, the problem says she's not allowed to look at all.

Normally, you'd insist on seeing the contents of the other bag after you had picked the black stone, just to see fair play.
The problem states "how can she win?" Therefore, it's asking a method. If we assume there is a method, we must assume she can win, somehow.

Why would the bet be void? He's an A$$ anyway, nothing in the problem says it's void if the landlord cheats or not, nor if he says he cheated or not.

It doesn't matter what who shows, the problem says she has to pick, it doesn't say anything about showing.

OK, so the dispute is going on at the same time as the landlord gets the stones, therefore, that can only happen if at least the woman & the landlord are outside the house.

How can she win?
Right, as I said above, "how can she win?" therefore we have to assume that she can, somehow.

So, lets assume that she knows what's in each bag, because she saw him pick the stones up (I know I know, I'll come to it!).

So now, the woman knows that each bag has a black stone in it. But yet she has to pick a white stone.

So when she's told to choose, lets say she refuses, as all women would under this situation (don't deny it ladies, you'd call it "childish"). Then, as the landlord pushes the situation (because he's a "stubborn male w@%!£r"), she gets wound up. In a fit of rage, she snatches a bag, and yanks a stone out. She's in such a rage that the stone goes on the floor. The woman, quickly reaches down & grabs a white stone, and shoves this in the landlords "face!"

She wins!

But wait a minute... she looked at the stone, and she cheated!

Well. The landlord cheated too, and if he'll fall for this kind of scam, he's an idiot, or he's scared. Lets assuming that since he came up with a "cunning plan" that he's no half-wit.

Why would he be scared?

Well, think about the situation. This woman is pretty damn p****d off by now, and getting pretty agressive (even if not towards a person). The man, being no half-wit quickly thinks that this could be the wrong time of the month to play games with stones!

So f**k it, he lets her win! He knows she's cheated, but do you think even an ar$ehole like this landlord would want to marry her now?

that was stupid.....too much assuming for my liking

I ASSUME THIS IS THE LAST PUZZLE I WILL BE LOOKING AT

So, lets assume that she knows what's in each bag, because she saw him pick the stones up................. in which case she would simply refuse

But then she wouldn't win, and her & her father would still have to move out, unless she married him...
