The D220 is fine until you try a diffeent tyre, then you realise they were awful. I think the Z6 / Diablo Strada is a fantastic tyre on the SV in the standard sizes.
they fitted the cheapest possible to keep the budget price of the bike down.

Sure, but presumably Mr Suzuki knew that in the build?? - that's my point!! ... so presumably he would have set the geometry etc round the profiles of the expected tyres!?!!?!? - however 'good' or 'bad' they were ... I would have hoped that is what he did anyway??? ... else - if you don't know what the tyres are - how the hell can you design a bike - they are a fairly fundamental part!??

Oh and 21QUEST, the 70 feels great on the track, but horrid going slowly* on the road IMHO

*negotiating smaller roundabouts - pulling into/out of T-Junctions etc. i.e. not out 'blatting about', but normal town work.

I have got a few 60 sections of one sort or another knowcking about, so intend to use them up before going back to my 70 section x-track front tyres ...

Which also means I will be breaking the other urban-rule ... presuming I will run a track tyre in the rear, old 60 section road tyre on the front - I'll be putting sticker rubber on the rear ...

Ooh, sticky rubber at the back?.....you've been drinking?......now you going to cause a riot haha

Personally, don't think the front really gives a hoot what's on the back but hey...

Nothing wrong with the MEZ4 and D220 per se.....now if you are are a cack handed lol rider, that's another thing .

Ben

Well I might just possibly be a cack handed rider

but being serious now it all comes down to personal preference on tyres i reckon, I really didn't like the Z4s. They made the bike feel unsettled all the time to me as well as it not wanting to turn as i wanted it to. It was particularly noticable after having a quick blast on a BT020 shod sv and then getting back onto mine.
I've run a few different tyres on my SVs over the past few years and they were IMO the worst

@ cack handedness, thought you might remember lol

Yep, totally agree that personal preference has a lot to do with it all

Nah, I reckon the geometry's built around the suspension, and the predicted rider, to make the bike stable and slow turning. The first thing most people do when seriously tweaking an SV is change it anyway, by a lot more than the changes tyres bring.

I'm half with Ben and half not, I don't think there's such a thing as a terrible tyre unless it's actually unpredictable, which the Z4s and D220 aren't. But there's far better tyres, and they don't cost much more, so there's not really any reason to fit them. The ER6N comes on 020s, doesn't it? And I think the new Hornet either comes on 021s, though I could be wrong. Certainly there's no way at all that performance came into the decision when SUzuki fitted these tyres.
